Many times we are faced with difficulties in our personal and professional life to which we cannot find in-depth answers even after extensive googling or scrolling on Reddit AMAs. In this unique situation where we cannot find a guide or a friend or even a group of people willing to help us out, we either give up on the situation or find impractical solutions like joining a full-fledged course.

This is where Rangr Inc comes into the picture with their practical and handmade solution for most problems faced by people on the planet.

In a short conversation we had with the CEO of Rangr, Richard Lee, he explained to us how Rangr works and why it should be used by more and more people for their benefit. “Rangr is a magical place where you could attend virtual video sessions on any topic hosted by professionals’’.

Suppose one wants to listen to and understand how to build a rocket from a NASA scientist, one can buy a ticket and attend a session on Rangr about it. This is where the magic happens as these are maxed at a capacity of 10 people so there is room for a lot of interaction.

The idea for this venture came out of necessity for Lee who, as a professor at the university recognized a flaw in the system where there are large classes with hundreds of students in them, most of whom the professor has no idea about hence restricting interaction and the learning process on the whole.

The biggest challenge for him was to get the word out organically to people who will actually use Rangr.

“I don’t want to spend a dime on marketing. I don’t want to do force-marketing. If your work doesn’t solve a problem, marketing isn’t going to solve that other than shove useless product info to the people”

Another recent problem is the remote setting of the work for most of the team members at Rangr caused due to COVID, due to which it has become difficult to build camaraderie and get things done as a team from the get-go.

Being an organization that solves a niche problem, their competition with other organizations is also in niche terms as well.

Looking back on the 8-month journey of Rangr, Lee feels like there are some things that they could have done better as an organization, like starting off their podcasts and newsletters earlier. Most of all, he feels that starting off on new ideas even with the uncertainty at hand would have been ideal. “What’s the best thing to do with the limited time you have and how do you prioritize it? That’s always a challenge for any new venture”.

Rangr is speeding up on its development more and more under the hard work of Richard and his team. Their aim is to have thousands of professional hosts on their platform virtue of the partnerships and relationships that they are building with universities and other organizations. “It’s great that we get the connections but also, more importantly, we want to share people’s stories further and further”

Books Richard recommends:

  • Design of everyday things by Don Norman
  • Change by Design by Tim Brown
  • Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.

“ We are looking for amazing people who like to talk about what they do, teach lessons, and are natural teachers “
